Remote Access – Everything Under Control

Some features on Audison DSP amplifiers can be accessed and adjusted remotely using their range of DRC (Direct Remote Control) products. Here, we examine the three main Audison remote controllers and outline their key differences.

It is always good to have control. The car is a sonically dynamic environment where increased speed results in more wind and road noise, often necessitating an increase in volume. The temptation would be to turn up the level on your head unit; however, with more sophisticated audio setups, including those that use external digital sources or the very excellent Audison B-Con Hi-Res Bluetooth streamer, then this is not always possible or desirable.

In many systems, the internal electronics of a factory head unit can significantly limit sonic integrity. Many distort at even relatively low volume levels, while others may themselves be equipped with dynamic equalisation designed to protect cheap, inadequate speakers.

An Audison DRC controller allows users to adjust specific parameters directly on an accompanying Audison amplifier instead of at the head unit.

DRC MP (Digital Remote Control Multi-processor)

This attractive controller with dot-matrix display is designed to work with Audison bit amplifiers and processors. Offering volume, balance, fader and subwoofer level adjustment, the compact controller can be mounted anywhere in the vehicle. The multiple-source selection allows for different inputs to an Audison bit amplifier to be selected. It can be used for the adjustment of key parameters in multi-zone vehicles. A memory selection function allows users to select from a number of preset memories, often used to tailor listening to a specific genre or driver preferences.

DRC MP CAN  (Digital Remote Control Multi-processor with CANBUS)

This is the new high-end controller for Audison Forza bit-equipped amplifiers. A smart OLED display delivers information in an easy-to-view way for safe driving. The RGB OLED display can be colour-matched to your vehicle’s dashboard.

When used with B-Con and the B-CON Go App, the DRC MP CAN may be used to skip forward and back when streaming from a connected device. Access to up to six presets gives this controller additional flexibility when playing different genres or when others are in the vehicle, etc.

Immediate access to Source selection, Master Volume, Subwoofer level, Volume and Mute makes this a “must have”, space depending.

DRC AC

This elegant, non-intrusive solution works really well for those looking to maintain their vehicle's OEM look. Very compact, the controller indicates which functions have been accessed via coloured LEDs, which also indicate the level set. Up to five individual functions can be assigned to the controller, each with its own selectable colour code.

If you can live without a display, this controller offers great all-around functionality of all Audison DSP’s including those featuring CANBUS.

Audison’s commitment to DSP technology will also be accompanied by user convenience.

It would take some time to remember which LED colour was which function, which could become frustrating, but sometimes space and aesthetics have to lead the feature importance list for some.
