Merry Christmas!

We have had such a fabulous year we just couldn’t resist one last email to our beloved club members.

We have loved visiting some of you this year and writing features about your car audio journey. Some of you will already have seen yourselves in print or on our social media pages, while others will have to wait a little longer. We are so grateful to everyone who agrees to allow us to sit in their cars and have a listen.

As a special present from us to you, we are giving you the first opportunity to see a brand new article featuring a magnificent installation in a Skoda.

Lauren has been searching for less popular Christmas Top Tunes to try in your cars. I already had a peach of a not-so-hidden track in mind, and if you can find it, you should enjoy it, I think:

https://open.qobuz.com/track/10472797

https://tidal.com/browse/track/391504?u

We met Christian in a pub car park opposite Epsom Race Course. It was our second assignment of the day, and we were keen to get home. However, this chap is so engaging, his stories and quotes so deep, and his well-researched installation sounded so good that we didn’t want to leave.

Have a first read before we throw it out to the masses.

Lauren’s Christmas Top Tunes

On the back of her triumphant Jazz selection, we decided to let Lauren loose again. This time, she has selected five alternative Christmas songs, as is a tradition around here. Have a listen!

Merry Christmas, Baby - Ike and Tina Turner

It’s Christmas - Pilot

Dreaming of a White Xmas - d’Andy

I’m Going to Lasso Santa Claus- Brenda Lee

All the Jingle Ladies - Jobii

I hope you enjoyed these. At least they are not Mariah Carey or Wham!

Along the way, Lauren created her own brief and added this one to the list. I removed it, but maybe I’m wrong. - I would be interested to hear

Dominick the Donkey - Lou Monte

Do You Wanna Build a Snowman

Recently, I was preparing food in the kitchen when my 3-year-old grandson appeared and asked if he could have a carrot. I dutifully peeled one for him and handed it over, thinking no more about it. I was aware that he was on the kitchen floor behind me but wasn’t in my way, so I left him to it. When I eventually turned around, I saw he had created the picture above. “Is that a snowman?” I asked, “Yes, Grandpa, I want to watch Olaf”. I dutifully went into the other room with him and put “Frozen” on the telly. While the machinery was whirring into action, and to the astonishment of his mum, he started singing “For the first time and forever”. To our knowledge, he had never sung this before.

To me, this spoke of a 3-year-old’s imagination, creativity, and obvious links between brain development and music. He is exposed to plenty of music in his parent’s car (Audison Prima system), at nursery and when he visits me and asks me to play songs (most of which I have never heard) on guitar.

Keep listening to music all of the time, people. It is the most potent force for good at our disposal.

Merry Christmas, see you in 2025.
