September Winds

Hello, Driving Sounds Club members. It is time for your monthly dose of Car Audio upgrade news. Following a busy summer, we have begun work on a new issue of the magazine. We have a couple of completed articles, and we are sharing the first of those exclusively with you

We also introduce a new active subwoofer from Hertz (CBA 250). A top Five is also shared, as is some exciting news regarding a show we will be attending next month.

There is a not-so-hidden track. This one has been suggested by a friend of the magazine Stuart Crombie of Accutek, nr. Winchester. We hope you enjoy it. It should sound pristine in a car, try it in yours!

Andy Hall's Top Five Tunes

In case you haven't read the full article on the superb audio system in a BMW Z 3, here is the owner, Andy's, top five driving sounds. I have added some of our observations made while auditioning the system. It is always good fun to listen to these tunes in your car and see if you can hear what we heard.

Blue Monday - New Order (12” remix)
"The cabin of the Z3 feels very narrow. However, the image played wide and high. Closing my eyes, I could almost have been in a club. The punch of the opening drum beats was chest-thumpingly punchy, and the low bass was subtle but rumbled low like thunder."

Hard Times - Human League
"Phil Oakey’s low vocal is impressive, and the hypnotic synth bass drags the listener through the track. At 2:50, a very familiar synth sound rises. It is the opening to “Love Action”, which was the A side of the single both tracks appeared on."

Thriller - Michael Jackson
"The drums are so crisp and punchy that I had to catch my breath again!  Hi-Hat and hand claps were standouts on the track on this system, as was the sub-bass, which sounded like it was mounted in the front of the car rather than in the boot."

New Gold Dream - Simple Minds

And That’s No Lie - Heaven 17 (10 min album version)

We are always interested to hear the Top Five of our members. We are happy to feature them in forthcoming newsletters or keep them to ourselves if you prefer. You can just hit the button below to email your choice to us.
My Top Five

In recent years, we have noticed a significant increase in the number of people investing in expensive hi-fi for the home. Many of these people could benefit from upgraded audio in their cars, too. For this reason, we are always looking for opportunities to demonstrate just how satisfying good car audio can be.

Our latest opportunity is at Staverton Country Park Hotel in Daventry on the 7th and 8th October.

The UK Audio Show has been a mainstay of the UK home audio industry since 1997, although this is just its second airing at this fantastic venue.

We will be presenting three cars featuring equipment of varying levels. Two of the cars have already been featured in Driving Sounds Magazine. These include a Porsche 964 with Audison Voce amplifier and Audison Thesis speakers. We are also pleased to have Mark Holterman's Hyundai i20 on our stand. Equipped with Hertz Mille Pro speakers and Audison Prima amplifier, this car sounds really good, and Mark is a very discerning listener, having been involved in home hi-fi for all of his working life.

This event offers you a great opportunity to drop by and say hello, pick up a printed copy of Driving Sounds Magazine and listen to some great car and home hi-fi.

We will report on our experience at the show in the next newsletter.

In the meantime, be a cautious and courteous driver and listen to the music love while driving/

Take care,
Carl
