Marching On

Welcome, club members. March already, and I just found a Christmas ornament lurking in my kitchen! May as well stay there until December now, I guess.

Despite the recent end to our winter drought, I am out and about a bit more and enjoying my Audison Prima system again. This month's not-so-hidden track sounds excellent, especially the lower registers. A bit more power would be nice, bringing us to this month's exclusive look at a new article on the new Audison Forza amplifiers. You can see this below. We also look at the numerous features available to installers in our "under the cover" blog. Club member Andy O'Shea submitted this month's Top Five, and we look forward to more of you sharing your current fave five with us at some point.

This month's not-so-hidden track can be heard here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o86icu6iI2U  The quality is OK, but for the next level, use Qobuz or Tidal if you can.

This month's featured article introduces you all to the latest range of amplifiers from Audison. Taking physical cues from the Prima range, Forza is entirely new under the cover with much expanded DSP capability and increased power. Please read all about it by hitting the button below.

Audison Forza DSP amplifiers are packed full of features that make life for your installer far simpler and set up more efficient. Car manufacturers increasingly recruit clever people to confuse the sound emanating from their standard fit equipment. The installer must undo all this before giving you the sound you deserve from your pride and joy. Here we reveal some of the smart tech designed to delight!
Take a Look Under the Bonnet
This month we feature a Top Five submitted by Andy O’Shea. Andy has two vehicles with upgraded audio. We hope to be able to bring you a detailed review of at least one of these later this year. His daily driver is a Jaguar F-Pace, to which FOUR MASTER BCCS Coulsdon has installed an impressive Hertz/Audison system. We have listed the equipment below Andy’s top five.

Andy’s Top Five:

Things My Father Said - Black Stone Cherry
The Strong - Eva Under Fire
Billie Jean - Michael Jackson
Angel From Montgomery - Susan Tedeschi
I Don’t Want a Lover - Texas

I bet these sound great through this little lot:

Audison – Bit 1
Audison – SR-1DK Sub amp
Audison – SR4 Amp run two channels running a tweeter each and two channels running a mid each
Audison – SR4 Amp bridged to two channels running a woofer each
Hertz – Mille Legend 280.30 -Tweeters
Hertz – Mille Legend 700.30 - Mids
Hertz – Mille Legend 1800.30 - Woofers
JL Audio – 12w7ae 12” - Subwoofer

All club members are welcome to suggest a Top Five. An audio upgrade is not essential, but if you have one, why not share what equipment you use with the rest of the club? Just hit the button below to send me an email.
My Top Five
In My Opinion

I am a regular searcher for new and interesting music. I get my inspiration from suggestions offered by the various streaming services I use but also from media (a little bit) and friends and colleagues (a lot), and even my two daughters (sometimes).

However, I am currently in a bit of a rut. It took me ages to find something interesting to listen to today. I thought I was bound to find something interesting amongst this week's new releases, and although plenty of new stuff was floating around, it all seemed to fail in the "interesting" department. I discussed this with my youngest daughter (age 17), who blames Tik Tok.
She feels that Tik Tok is the main driving force behind a pop act's success or failure. Furthermore, she blames this for lazy songwriting. To be successful on Tik Tok, you need to produce a video segment of a new song which lasts 15 seconds at most. Listening to such clips gives the impression that a strong song is being promoted. However, listen to the music in its entirety, and invariably, you will find that it contains 15 seconds of catchy hook, and the rest is filler. This is not a practice simply for promoting brand new acts but also mainstream acts such as Lizzo, Harry Styles, and Ed Sheeran, amongst others.

There are many artists out there who create extremely interesting music; however, as they do not "belong" to a major music label, they are often under-promoted, leaving them to fight amongst themselves and use their social media channels, Band Camp and live gigs for which they are paid a pittance. Discuss and let us know your thoughts!

In the meantime, be careful on the roads and use music to reduce stress while driving!
