Continued Growth of August Membership

Despite the slightly frivolous play on the word "August" above we would like to extend a warm and sincere welcome to all new members especially those who took time to come and speak with us at the recent CarFests North and South. We hope that our vehicles inspired you and added to the enjoyment of a fantastic event. For you and existing members, we have given this monthly news bulletin a bit of a facelift making it easier for readers to access relevant information.

Upcoming Events

Our next public event is Trax on September 8th at Silverstone. We will be joined yet again by a number of FOUR MASTERS who will be showing some stunning demo cars and offering system advice. You can also pit your ears against our two BMW 1-series one of which is fitted with an aftermarket audio system. If you choose correctly (it isn't hard!) you stand a chance to win a duplicate system installed into your own car.

August Top Five Driving Sounds

With this new feature we want to tempt you in to sharing your fave tunes for driving to with other club members. We do not expect these lists to be anything other than a snapshot of what is in your CD player or on your portable device right now. You can register your top five by emailing me at: editorial@drivingsounds.co.uk and I will send a free copy of Driving Sounds to anyone whose list is pulled out of a hat and published next month.

To kick us off, here is the top five of Lamborghini owner, Adrian Corigall (see "Driving Sounds Issue 4") for you to consider and enjoy:

Roads - Portishead

Life On Mars - David Bowie

Fast Fuse - Kasabian

Angel - Massive Attack

I'm Shakin' - Jack White

Techie Bit

Here we will invite you to link through to our as non-technical as possible technical blog to find out more on a particular topic of the month. This month we are talking about the comparative quality of downloaded music files and touching on the emotive subject of digital compression. Click here or the table above to read on.

Driving Sounds Issue 4

This is now under way with three vehicle features already agreed. I am very much looking forward to seeing and hearing these especially if their owners are all as enthusiastic as Lamborghini owner Adrian Corigall. He sent me a long and detailed email which will form the major part of the article on his vehicle and his experience at the hands of FOUR MASTER Jeremy Owen at Highdown Car Audio and Security in Worthing. Click here or on the image above to get a sneaky peak and to read what Adrian has to say about his experience so far.

Final Thoughts and Offers

Watch this space for competitions, special offers and final thoughts.
No comps or giveaways this month but we leave you with this thought:
Music is everywhere. Not just the music you like but the music your children like and that which your parents used to like. With so many musical genres available all increasingly influenced by each other, are the lines between them beginning to blur? If so, could there be a future where meaningful music classification becomes impossible?

Give me your thoughts: editorial@drivingsounds.co.uk

See you next month.
