"Mummy! Mummy! When I grow up I want to be a guitar player!"
"Now Johnny, you can't do both!"

Merry Christmas Baby

Howdy music lovers on the move! Ready for some seasonal blues? Do you know who the man pictured is? As with many other musical genres, the blues can become a little "samey" for the casual listener. I would urge you all however, to go to your car right now. Put the heater on, turn the system up loud and stream this tune preferably from Tidal and thank the stars for electric guitars and this man's sacred fingers! - If it doesn't blow your socks off, it may be time to visit your local FOUR MASTER and ask for some audio love!

At Home In Your Car

This month we have been working on a review for the Audison APX 6.5 component pair. We decided to do this not in a car but fitted into some home hi-fi speakers which had a broken 6.5" coaxial. The results were quite illuminating and confirmed that the Prima range continues to offer fantastic value for money when compared to just about anything else around. You can read the article here:

Focussed Car Audio

Acoustic lenses are becoming increasingly popular in applications where sound dispersion is important. A car is the perfect place for this technology due to the often random mounting positions offered by car manufacturers, not to mention the effect of shiny, reflective materials on overall sound.

In this month's blog, we look at the technology and the pro's and con's of its use especially in car speakers. Read all about I there:

Audison Prima has become a go to product since its launch. The range continues to expand with new plug and play products making installation easier and quicker. Have a look at the entire range here:

Quality Audio Revival Continues

Here at Driving Sounds, we have thoroughly enjoyed discovering new music. There is now a lot of Hi-Res audio content available on Qobuz with most new releases being released in Hi-Res. Other providers are also claiming to provide Hi-Res music. Tidal don't specifically use the Hi-Res logo but their MQA (M suffix) renderings are really good.

Particular highlights for me personally include The Beatles "Abbey Road" reimagining. It sounds absolutely superb with the work of Giles Martin adding to what was already there. I have also enjoyed great work from Citrus Sun and Ezra Collective. The extra dynamic range suits all kinds of music and I have also listened to solo acoustic guitar, a smattering of classical as well as sexy breathy vocals from days gone by. Everything sounds so sweet, it is hard not to delve into previously ignored genres and discover that in Hi-Res they stand out much more than with my previous listening experiences.

Some years ago when Hi-Res was new to car audio, I heard many doubting its worth. Happily, I can report that after much on-the-move listening, Hi-Res definitely adds something to the listening experience on the road.

I am off to binge on mulled wine and mince pies now and will see you all again in the New Year.

Wishing you all a fabulous yule!
Stay safe.
