A Big Bird, Pudding and Baby Cheeses

Hello, Driving Sounds Club Members, and welcome to our Christmas newsletter. Some of you will be here as you have been registered for an extended Warranty on recent car audio products installed in your vehicle. We hope you will have a look at this before unsubscribing. This you can do at any time, but we would prefer you to stick with our growing community of like-minded music lovers on the move. We promise not to get too spammy, and you will only ever receive one newsletter per month.
It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas, so enjoy the read and have a listen to our alternative Christmas Top Five Tunes. We even have a Christmas-themed "hidden" track! It's hidden right here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhoFdVOx71Q

George Johnsons' Top Tunes

As always, music fans struggle to name just five tunes for this feature. George, owner of the car in this month's featured article above, gave me a list of 34! We have whittled them down based on our listening experience in his car. These were all hi-res renderings. Worth looking for them on a proper hi-res streaming service or downloading them in as high a quality as you can!

Riders on the Storm – The Doors
Green Shirt – Elvis Costello
Brush with the Blues - Jeff Beck
Video Games – Lana Del Rey
Pale Green Ghosts – John Grant

Why not try and whittle your faves down to five and share them with us? We would be delighted to hear what they are!

My Top Five

Driving Sounds Alternative Christmas Top Five

1. Ibrahim Malouf - Let it Snow, Let it Snow!
If you are not aware of this chap's work, we think you should be. This track is highly untypical of the eastern-edged jazz he is best known for. The unique tone of his trumpet is there, though.

2. Tom Waits - Christmas Card From a Hooker in Minneapolis
Gravel-voiced doesn't really do it. This fascinating man has a unique songwriting and singing style. He always sounds drunk, and maybe he is.

3. Eels - Christmas is Going to the Dogs
Enigmatic? Maybe, but we love them!

4. Blink-182 - Happy Holidays, You B*******
Uhm, not for the profanity-shy this one. It's great fun, though!

5. James Brown - Soulful Christmas
Have to admit, we included this mainly because of the video. A must-watch for all fans of Prince or The Cat from Red Dwarf!

Have a peaceful Christmas, everyone. We will be back in the New Year.
Keep listening and take care!
